Dorothy and Her Sibling Al

Dorothy's parents are August Kozub and Helen Pollack.

August and Helen had two children:

1) Dorothy Eveline Kozub
Born: Feb. 7, 1920 in Turtle Creek, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, USA
Died: Jan. 26, 1992 in San Gabriel, Los Angeles, California, USA (in daughter Joyce's home)
Buried:

2) Alexander "Al" Kozub (who, according to rumors, changed his last name to Alexander in later years).
Born: May 22, 1922
Died: May 3, 1996

From these pictures, I assume that Al served in WW II (click on to enlarge):

Here is a priceless picture of August with his two children Dorothy and Al. August died not too long after it (he died when Dorothy was seven):

And here is a picture of Al and Dorothy with their mom Helen:

Here is a picture of Al and Dorothy as young adults:

Sources I have: Dorothy's Feb. 7, 1920 Birth Certificate, Dorothy's Sept. 14, 1940 Marriage Certificate, Dorothy's April 6, 1946  LDS Certificate of Baptism and Confirmation and Certificate of Membership, Dorothy's June 23, 1950 Temple Marriage Certificate, Dorothy's March 29, 1954 Patriarchal Blessing, Dorothy's Jan. 26, 1992 Death Certificate.

Leads I have: Dorothy's funeral program. Pictures.

  1. Dorothy and Al are buried next to one another at Rose Hills in Southern California. Al's first wife Florence is also buried there. As are my parents, Dorothy and Derral Griffiths. Al and Florence did not have children. They are buried in the Whispering Pines area which is at the top of of a beautiful hill under a pine tree facing south.Actually, Al remarried a person named Millie, and it is entirely possible he was buried by her in another state..

  2. Dorothy preferred to go by the last name of Griffith instead of Griffiths for her last name. She was 71 when she died in Bloomington,Ca (San Bernardino County). She died of heart failure due to the disease of Alzheimers. Dorothy lived in Ca for 50 years. She met her husband Derral Evan Griffith at Bank of America, where they both worked in Southern Ca. She Lived in Monterey Park and Alhambra, Ca (LA CTY) with her husband and 5 children, and her last 9 years at her daughter Joyce Griffiths home in Bloomington, Ca where she died on Jan 26, 1992. She was buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Ca by her mother Helen Pollock Kozub, her husband Derral Evan Griffiths, and also by her brother Al's 1st wife Florence Kozub. Her brother Alexander Kozub, also has a plot there, however was not buried there due to we as a family were not informed by his 2nd wife Millie that he had died and where he was buried. Since 2015, the plot available is still there in Whispering Pines at Rose Hills. Dorothy's brother Alexander, in his later years, changed his name legally from Alexander Kozub to Alexander (Kozub) Alexander.

  3. Dorothy was a native of Turtlecreek, Pa. Her mother Helen worked in a hair salon there (not sure if owned or not). Later, she her brother Al, and her mother Helen moved to Ca where they opened a malt shop there and named it "Dots Malt Shop" after my mother Dorothy. Later in life, after she was married and had children, she worked as a licensed child-care professional for 30 years. Her religion was originally Prespertarian ( ? spelling) but after my parents were married several years(?), they were later sealed together with their family in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 23, 1950. Dorothy was baptised in the LDS Church July 6, 1946 by my father Derral E. Griffith. They had 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys, and I understand my mother had a few miscarriages also, which one was a boy they named David.
